Verizon Adds ION Services to FiOS TV

Verizon Communications will carry ION Media Networks’ suite of channels as part of its FiOS TV lineup.

Under their carriage agreement, Verizon will carry ION Television, ION’s flagship network. Additionally, Verizon will offer ION’s recently launched 24-hour digi-nets: qubo, ION Life, The Worship Network and iMetro.

ION Television features a mix of original series, classic TV favorites, movies, specials and sports targeted to families and viewers of all ages, including television hits and popular series such as Charlie's Angels, The Monkees, The Partridge Family and Mama’s Family, among others.

“We are proud to announce Verizon as a national affiliate,” ION cable-division president Steve Friedman said in a prepared statement. “This agreement reinforces the value of our networks to consumers and the commitment of our programming partners to this outstanding venture.”

ION Television also has a new programming partnership with RHI Entertainment, the award-winning producer and distributor of miniseries and movies for television including Lonesome Dove and Moby Dick.

RHI’s lineup of programming for ION will include the creation of exclusive original programming, as well as library titles. The first of 12 originals will debut in July.

qubo is a multilingual television network for children that champions literacy and positive values through entertainment. The digital network features an expanded lineup of popular children’s programming, including Nelvana’s Pecola, NBC Universal’s Boo! and Classic Media’s Theodore Tugboat.

ION Life features a lineup of health, wellness and medical-related news and information from leading health experts, plus consumer issues-oriented programming, talk shows, news, information and technology-oriented programming concerning health and the health care industries, as well as other lifestyle programming.

iMetro airs cultural and lifestyle programming with a mix of news, entertainment and sports.

The Worship Network offers inspirational programming and events such as live concerts and worship seminars.
