Verizon Carries ION in NY, NJ Markets

Verizon Communications will carry Ion Media Networks' qubo, Ion Life and The Worship Network on the FiOS TV channel lineup in Verizon’s New York and northern New Jersey markets.

The telco also recently added the ION channel suite to FiOS TV lineups in Philadelphia, California, north Texas and the Washington metro area.

Under the terms of the distribution agreement between the companies, announced last year, Verizon agreed to carry the flagship Ion Television Network, which airs a mix of TV series, movies, sports and specials, as well as the children-oriented qubo, Ion Life and The Worship Network, a channel featuring "inspirational programming."

“The launch of our diginets clearly demonstrates Verizon’s commitment to its FiOS TV subscribers,” Steve Friedman, Ion Media Networks' president of network distribution said, in a prepared statement.

The Ion Television Network daily lineup includes The Drew Carey Show, Mama’s Family and Who’s the Boss?, among other programming.

Ion, formerly known as Paxson Communications, also owns and operates 60 full-power broadcast TV stations.
