Verizon Inc. is trotting out a new business digital subscriber line product
that offers symmetric throughput speeds and a priority delivery hook.
Verizon’s SHDSL, based on the g.SHDSL standard, offers speeds up to 1.5
Megabits per second symmetric connection. It also offers a quality-of-service
pledge that during periods of high traffic the service can prioritize the SHDSL
It also includes one static IP address, 15 business-grade e-mail boxes, 20
megabytes of Web storage, remote e-mail access, 20 hours of dial-up mobility
access and a domain name service (DNS) for up to five domains.
Prices range from $149.95 to $369.95 per month for the service based on the
Verizon has been trailing the service in Baltimore and Clearwater, Fla., and
now it plans to roll it out in Delaware, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania,
Rhode Island, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.
The telco is aiming the data-only service at small and medium business
customers in its nine-state territory.
'Business SHDSL also offers the type of performance standards and
dependability usually reserved for very large data customers,” said Anthony
Price, vice president-business markets.
