Verizon Goes Wireless for New President/COO

Verizon Communications dipped into its Verizon Wireless division and named its president, Denny Strigl, president and chief operating officer, a newly created post.

Strigl will have responsibility for the operations of all of Verizon's network-based businesses -- Verizon Wireless, Verizon Telecom and Verizon Business -- as well as Verizon Services Operations, which provides financial, real estate and other functional services to all of the company's operations.

He also will remain a member of the Verizon Wireless board.

Strigl reports to Verizon chairman and CEO Ivan Seidenberg.

In other personnel moves, Lowell McAdam was promoted to president and CEO of Verizon Wireless, from executive vice president and COO of the unit.

John Stratton was promoted to the newly created position of executive VP and chief marketing officer at Verizon Communications, from VP and CMO for Verizon Wireless.

And Shaygan Kheradpir also moved up to the parent company, taking the newly created position of executive VP and chief information officer, from CIO for Verizon Telecom.
