Verizon Signs Up More Nets

Verizon Communications Inc. said it signed programming deals for five lightly distributed cable channels to join its planned FiOS TV offering.

They are: The America Channel, launching next year; martial-arts channel Blackbelt TV; on-demand home shopper Expo TV, along with a linear version launching later this year; Lime, the new name for Wisdom TV; and the Pentagon Channel.

Verizon already disclosed deals with network groups NBC Universal Cable, Starz Entertainment Group, Showtime Networks, A&E Television Networks, Discovery Networks and Turner Broadcasting System Inc. and said it is close to finalizing agreements with several other major content-partners. Verizon has said it will launch FiOS TV this year.
