Targeting a pay TV market dominated by Comcast, Verizon won a video franchise for its FiOS TV service in Wilsonville, Ore.
The Wilsonville City Council granted a video franchise to Verizon Aug. 20, in a unanimous vote.
Verizon has won franchises in several other Portland metro communities for FiOS TV, including Dundee, McMinnville and Newberg in Yamhill County, as well as 10 cities in Washington County and by Washington County itself. The company said it expects to offer FiOS TV service in those communities late this year or early next year.
