Versus Scores Best-Ever Regular-Season NHL Ratings With Sharks-Bruins

Versus registered its most-watched regular-season National Hockey League telecast ever with its coverage of the San Jose Sharks-Boston Bruins game.
The Feb. 10 contest, which many considered a potential preview of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals, scored a 0.5 household average, translating into 377,589 households, according to Nielsen Media Research data. That topped the previous regular-season mark held by the Nov. 11 rematch of the 2008 championship series between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings.
The Sharks-Bruins game won by San Jose by a 5-2 count also was Versus' best regular-season NHL contest among men 25 to 54.
Locally, the game iced a 3.1 household rating in the Boston DMA and a 1.3 mark in the San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose area, making Versus the No. 1- and No.2- rated cable network in those markets, respectively, during the time period.
