VH1 Thursday announced several promotions and new hires in the East and West Coast offices of its programming department.

Jim Ackerman was promoted to senior vice president, development and production, from VP of development production and programming.

Maggie Malina has joined the network as senior VP, VH1 Films and scripted series. She had been senior VP, original movies at sister network MTV: Music Television.

Jeff Olde has joined VH1 as senior VP, production and programming. Olde had been an executive consultant to VH1.

Brad Abramson was elevated to VP, production and programming, from executive producer of production and programming.

Alex Demyanenko has joined the network as VP, development. He had been head of development for Rocket Science Laboratories.

Matt Hanna has been promoted to VP, development, from director, development.

And Jill Modabber was elevated to VP, series production, from director, current programming.

“This team has achieved an astonishing amount of success, delivering high-quality original hit series that have yielded record numbers of viewers at VH1, while sharpening and expanding our unique point of view," executive VP, original programming and production Michael Hirschorn said in a prepared statement.

"Their new responsibilities, as well as the additions to our team, will ensure that VH1 will build on its tremendous momentum and launch even more hit programs that resonate with our viewers in 2006,” he added.
