The finale of Rock of Love with Bret Michaels turned up the Nielsen heat for VH1,

The Sept. 30 installment, during which the Poison frontman chose Jess, averaged 5.4 million viewers and 4.1 million adult 18-to-49 watchers, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

The performance in the demo was the second greatest in the network’s history, trailing only the Oct. 15, 2006 season two finale of Flavor of Love, said network officials

For the season, Rock of Love averaged 2.1 million total viewers for its 11 premiere episodes and a 1.4 rating against the network’s target demo. A reunion show is slated for Oct. 7 at 8 p.m.

The show’s performance, along with strong numbers turned in by the fourth season of Hogan’s Knows Best, which is averaging 1.8 total viewers and a 1.2 adult 18 to 49 mark, Scott Baio is 45…And Single, The Pick-Up Artist and What Perez Sez, helped drive VH1 to a 21st consecutive quarter of growth among total viewers, according to network officials. Overall, VH1’s primetime rating for the quarter in among persons 18 to 49 averaged a .5, up 25% from the corresponding year-earlier period.
