VH1 announced Thursday that it will post an online quiz on its Web site
(www.VH1.com) to test people's attitudes and
knowledge about HIV/AIDS, starting Monday June 23.
That will be just one component in the music network's first comprehensive
HIV/AIDS awareness public-service campaign.
VH1 general manager Christina Norman said the network's effort is part of
parent Viacom Inc.'s current globa! media campaign, 'Know HIV/AIDS,' which is
encouraging consumers to get tested for HIV and become more aware of the
Norman said the network's first PSA, '10 Reasons You Should Get Tested for
HIV,' also drives viewer traffic to vh1.com to take the 13-question 'Know Your
HIV/AIDS I.Q. Test.'
In addition, its Web site also will encourage consumers to take part in
'Natioal HIV Testing Day' on June 27; it also will list testing centers and
resources for assistance and prevention.
There also will be links to singers' Web sites that promote HIV/AIDS
awareness, such as those for Elton John, Mary J. Blige and Bono.
VH! said that it plans to produce an hourlong special 'in the future' on the
impact that musicians and other celebrities have had on AIDS awareness
