VH1 will move into the original movie arena with a series of music artist bio-pics beginning with a feature on the 90's R&Bmusic trio TLC.
The movie will showcase the triumphs and trials of the TLC trio -- Chilli, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes - one of the most successful female groups of all time, said network officials.
The two surviving members of the group will serve as consultants and executive producers for the movie, VH1 said.
"With the tremendous success of our scripted series Single Ladies, we now know that viewers will come to VH1 for quality scripted projects," said Jeff Olde, executive vice president of original programming and production for VH1 in a statement. "We're eager to expand on that success with this bio-pic franchise that will allow us to explore our music, pop culture, and authentic storytelling strengths in yet another format."
VH1 officials said the network is talking to other musical artists about developing bio-pics but would not reveal specific details.
