VH1 Soul, VH1 Classic Ready for Black History Month

Spike Lee will help VH1 Soul to kick off Black History Month, while VH1 Classic will turn to Stevie Wonder.

A new awareness spot directed by Lee for SpikeDDB promoting DNA-based ancestry tests that can help viewers to genetically determine where in Africa their ancestors came from will debut on VH1 Soul Thursday.

VH1 Soul will also debut new one-hour music-video program One Planet. One Soul Sunday, showcasing soul artists from the United Kingdom, Africa, Canada and Australia including Corinne Bailey Rae, Floetry, Akon, K'Naan, K-OS, Ayo and Rhian Benson.

One Planet. One Soul will air every Sunday at 10 a.m., 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.

As for VH1 Classic, one-hour concert special BBCCrown Jewels: Stevie Wonder: A Night of Wonder will make its U.S. television debut Thursday, Feb. 8 at 10 p.m.

And Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life album will be featured on the network’s Classic Albums Tuesday, Feb. 6, also at 10 p.m.
