VH1 Taps Vanessa Williams for 'Satan Sisters'

Singer/actress Vanessa Williams will play the lead role in VH1’s upcoming scripted series based on Star Jones’ book Satan Sisters: A Novel Oof Fiction, the network said Tuesday.

Williams will play the role of Maxine, creator and host of a popular, long-running TV talk show who fears she’ll soon be pushed out of her role as part of a power struggle among others involved in the show, according to the network.

Williams most recently starred in the final season of Desperate Housewives and has appeared in several series including Ugly Betty.

Jones will serve as executive producer of the series -- which will launch in 2017 -- along with Josh Berman (Drop Dead Diva) and Suzanne de Passe (Temptations), VH1 said.
