VH1's long-running 'Save the Music' initiative benefited from recent exposure
on sister Viacom Inc. network CBS' The Early Show.
Running June 10 through 14, 'VH1 Save the Music Week' was featured on the
broadcaster's morning news program, which helped to raise more than $500,000 in
corporate contributions, online auctions and cash donations to restore school
music programs around the nation.
People also turned over more than 2,000 instruments, with contributions still
rolling in, according to VH1 officials.
In addition to performances from Sheryl Crow, Jewel and Boyz II Men, among
others, students from different cities that benefit from the outreach program
were featured on the program each day during the stunt.
