Vidéotron Launching Telephony in Quebec


Vidéotron ltee said Wednesday that its residential cable-telephone service will be available in the Quebec City area as of July 11.

The MSO added that it will spend $29 million between now and the end of 2006 to upgrade its network in that area.

Vidéotron said that once its upgrade is completed, its network will be able to support 800 digital-television channels or 126 HD channels.

The operator already has nearly 42,000 cable-telephone subscribers in Laval, Montreal South Shore and the West Island in Quebec.
