The two-part opener of season eight of Sci Fi Channel’s Stargate SG-1 was a record-setter.
The network said Friday’s "New Order" episode earned a 2.4 Nielsen Media Research rating and was seen by 3.224 million viewers two and older, making it the most watched episode in the series’ history.
The Stargate opener was ranked No. 2 on the day on cable among persons 18-49 and 25-54 and No. 4 among total viewers. It also drew more viewers 18-49 and 25-54 than any other episode of an original series in the network’s history.
The New Order episode was a prelude to the series debut of Stargate Atlantis, which premieres with a two-hour movie event on Sci Fi Friday, July 16 at 9 p.m. (EST/PST).
