The Weather Channel’s live coverage Friday of Hurricane Charley’s destruction in Florida posted a 1.3 total-day Nielsen Media Research household rating.
The network posted 1.33 in primetime Friday, edging Fox News Channel’s 1.31, and TWC delivered 1.2 million households versus 1.1 million for Fox News.
TWC reached its ratings high point with a 2.4 at 4:30 p.m. (EST) Friday, just before the storm hit Punta Gordo, Fla.
Saturday brought the network a 0.9 total-day rating.
“As always, our staff was up to the challenge and provided coverage that made us proud and also that contributed in an enormous way to helping people stay safe in areas that were vulnerable,” TWC senior vice president and general manager Terry Connelly said in a prepared statement.
