MTV Networks Latin America announced the sponsors for its MTV Video Music Awards Latin America 2004, as well as more performers and presenters.
The Coca-Cola Co. returns as the event’s exclusive sponsor, and Visa International Latin America will be the prize sponsor again.
Hewlett-Packard Co. and Motorola Inc. join returning sponsor McDonald’s Corp. as first-time panregional sponsors for both the north (Mexico, Caribbean, Venezuela, Colombia, Central America, Dominican Republic, Cuba) and south (Chile, Andean Countries, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay) feeds, while newcomer Ford Motor Co. will sponsor only the Mexico transmission.
As far as talent, Lenny Kravitz, Black Eyed Peas, The Rasmus, Tiziano Ferro and DJ Toy have been added to the performers’ list.
They join Beastie Boys, Colombian singer and songwriter Juanes, Mexican pop-rock singer Julieta Venegas, Vicentico, Spain’s Alex Ubago, Tiziano Ferro, Belinda, Natalia Lafourcade and a special appearance by Shakira.
On the presenters’ front, Charly García, Diego Torres, Carmen Electra, Kalimba, Babasónicos, La Ley and Paz Vega join previously announced Natalia Lafourcde, Belinda and Shakira.
“This year's lineup promises to deliver an exciting and dynamic show,” MTV Networks Latin America vice president of music and artist relations José Tillán said in a prepared statement. “We’re covering many genres and styles that directly reflect the tastes of MTV's audience in Latin America.”
Mexican pop singer Paulina Rubio will host the third annual VMALAs, whichwill air live from the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Thursday, Oct. 21.
