Coldplay and50 Cent have joined the list of performers for MTV: Music Television’s 2005 MTV Video Music Awards.
The VMAs will be broadcast live on MTV Sunday Aug. 28 at 8 p.m. (tape-delayed on the West Coast) from AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami.
The 22nd annual show will be hosted by Diddy, the artist/entrepreneur formerly known as Puff Daddy, P. Diddy and Sean” Puffy” Combs.
Coldplay and50 Cent join previously announced performers Shakira, Ludacris, Mariah Carey, the Killers, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson and Green Day.
The VMAs will also feature appearances by celebrities including Jessica Simpson, Lil Kim, Ricky Martin, Ashlee Simpson, Bow Wow, Eva Longoria, Nelly, Hilary Duff, Joel Madden from Good Charlotte, Ciara, Alicia Keys, Usher, Jessica Alba, Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, Lindsay Lohan, Joss Stone, Jeremy Piven and Snoop Dogg.
Green Day headed the list of nominations with eight, six for “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and a pair for “American Idiot.”
Gwen Stefani and Missy Elliott followed with six nods apiece, while U2 netted five nominations.
