Vonage Lowers Activation Pricing

Vonage Holdings Corp. is lowering the price of activating its voice-over-Internet-protocol service to $79.99 at Best Buy Co. Inc., Circuit City Stores Inc., Fry's Electronics and RadioShack Corp. in a promotion that also includes a $50 rebate, effectively lowering signup fees to $29.99 at 5,000 stores nationwide.

"Vonage's suggested-retail-price change is indicative of Vonage's goal to pass its savings along to its customers, as we have now reached the point where we can reduce costs," vice president of retail-channel sales Matthew Deatrick said in a prepared statement.

The $79.99 self-installation kit includes a Motorola Inc. modem, an Ethernet cable, a power adapter and a welcome.

Vonage offers pricing plans ranging from $14.99-$49.99 per month.
