WAPA Sets Second Season of 'Idol Puerto Rico'

Puerto Rican broadcaster WAPA-TV used its 2012 upfront
presentation to announce a second season of Idol
Puerto Rico
, as well as a kids' spinoff of the popular show.

At its Dec. 7 upfront in San Juan, the station announced the
return of its iteration of the Pop Idol franchise.
In its first season, Idol Puerto Rico
tallied a 71% audience share among adult women.

WAPA will also collaborate with Idol producer FremantleMedia on Idol
Kids, a spinoff seeking the island's best young talent.

WAPA also announced the upcoming launch of a weekly news
program leading up to the commonwealth's 2012 gubernatorial elections,
featuring polls interviews, and analysis. The station is also expected to
present the first official debate among the candidates running for governor.

Most of WAPA's original programming (with the exception of
the FremantleMedia properties) will be televised in the U.S. on WAPA America, a
cable network distributed in about 5.2 million homes.
