WealthTV Rings Bell For Boxing Card

Publish date:

WealthTV will step into the cable boxing ring in November, teaming with boxing promoter Don King to distribute a cruiserweight championship fight.
Wealth TV will air live the Nov. 5 Guillermo "El Felino" Jones-Mike Marrone World Boxing Association title fight - part of a four-bout fight card -- from Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., said network officials.
The network would not divulge subscriber figures but has distribution deals with Verizon FiOS And AT&T U-Verse. The network is also distributed via Roku Internet streaming players on a subscription basis for $2.99 per month.
The event marks the first boxing event for the lifestyle and entertainment network targeted to upper-income subscribers. WealthTV offers luxury-themed content featuring world travel, cars, culinary delights, top fashion, international news and movies.
"Telecasting the Viva Don King world championship boxing card is an honor for us and fits nicely into the programming vision for WealthTV," said network CEO Robert Herring in a statement.
King added he hopes the fight card is the first of several with the cable network.
"As the number of networks and telecast platforms across the technological spectrum has increased, I have been looking for new and inventive ways to bring my events to the masses," King said in a statement. "I see this as a golden opportunity for people across the nation to see fights on WealthTV, just like people saw fights on ABC, CBS and NBC in yesteryear."
