Weather Spinoff Signs AT&T, Cox

The Weather Channel's spinoff, Weatherscan Local, has closed carriage deals
with AT&T Broadband and Cox Communications Inc., officials said.

Those new affiliation agreements are on top of a major launch last year of
the 24-hour local, lifestyle and weather-information channel by Comcast Corp.
That MSO is offering Weatherscan Local to more than 900,000 households as part
of its 'Comcast Digital Plus' service.

AT&T Broadband has launched Weatherscan Local so far in markets such as
St. Louis, Salt Lake City, Atlanta and its recently acquired system in
Boston.

'As new platforms roll out in the future, we are confident that The Weather
Channel will continue to be the leading provider of value-added weather content
and information for AT&T customers,' AT&T Broadband executive vice
president of programming Matt Bond said in a prepared statement. 'We know that
our customers find local weather information valuable.'

Cox has added the local weather service to its lineup at systems in Las
Vegas; San Diego and Orange County, Calif.; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Okla.; and
Fairfax County, Va. It is about to roll out Weatherscan Local in Providence,
R.I., and Cleveland.

'The flexibility of Weatherscan Local allows us to not only co-brand the
network, but also to tailor the local weather and lifestyle information to each
locale,' Cox vice president of programming Bob Wilson said in a prepared
statement.
