WFN Lands New Tagline: A Great Day For Fishing

WFN: World Fishing Network will launch a new branding campaign, Web site platform and tagline on Monday, Sept. 28

The 24-hour fishing channel hopes to make the new look ubiquitous to anglers through an aggressive on-air and online campaign, as well as a consumer sweepstakes.

Part of the lexicon of anglers, the new tagline," A Great Day for Fishing," aspires to capture the network's dedication to fishing and the fishing lifestyle. The tagline will become part of the network's new logo on all on-air, online and print promotions.

On Sept. 28, viewers will see the fresh new look, created by Tantrum Design & Effects, with rebranded station IDs, lower thirds, and on-air promotion graphics using fishing imagery and network's trademark colors of orange, yellow and black.

Additionally, WFN will drop its line on a new promotional campaign tied to the tagline, featuring celebrity, professional and everyday anglers alike talking passionately about why everyday is a great day for fishing for them. Check out a promo here: http://www.wfn.tv/branding/newlook2009/.
To support the new tagline, WFN will launch a consumer sweepstakes, "It's a Great Day for Fishing with Joe Mercurio," whereby viewers can submit an essay of 100 words or less describing their greatest day with the rod. The top 20 entries, as selected by a panel of WFN judges, will be posted online to be voted upon by WFN viewers. The winner will earn a trip to Boca Grande, Florida, for a two-day guided tarpon fishing expedition in the Boca Grande Pass with Pro Tarpon Tour Series host Mercurio. The winner's spoils also include the chance to announce the official countdown at a PTTS event and ride along with Mercurio as he shoots an episode of PTTS. To enter, visit www.wfn.tv/contest.
To coincide with the new branding campaign, WFN and WFN HD, which are available to more than 20 million households in North America (in the U.S. they have deals with Verizon FiOS, Dish Network and Charter Communications), has also redesigned its Web site, WFN.TV. The enhanced site will place a more extensive focus on video with a new video player prominently positioned on the home page.
"From a marketing standpoint, the rebranding campaign and new tagline represents a deep commitment to WFN's unique selling point -- the only network 60 million anglers can call their own," said WFN vice president of marketing Christopher Doyle in a statement. "A Great Day for Fishing is a simple phrase that anglers of all ages can relate to and have probably uttered at sometime, whether a pro angler on the day of a big tournament or a youngster before a family holiday trip to the lake -- it resonates with everyone who's ever cast out looking for the big one."
