WGN America’s getting into the gridiron spirit, offering up an 18-episode marathon of the sitcom Coach throughout this weekend just as the college football regular season kicks off at campuses around the country.
WGN America, Tribune Broadcasting’s nationally distributed cable, satellite and telco network, will air the Coach episodes beginning Friday, Aug. 29 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET and then on Saturday, Aug. 30 from noon to 7 p.m. ET.
Coach, which ran for nine seasons and was nominated for five Golden Globe awards, stars Craig T. Nelson as Hayden Fox, the head coach of the fictitious Minnesota State Screaming Eagles.
“As American colleges kick off the football season, the Coach marathon is WGN America’s way of celebrating important events for our viewers beyond traditional holidays. We aren’t airing any of the games, but we do have 9 hours of the Coach” Sean Compton, senior vice president of programming and development, said in a statement.
WGN America’s two-day Coach marathon is presented by TomTom, “the world’s leading navigation solution provider.”
