Whaleback Systems and Narad Networks announced a joint marketing agreement and the availability of a managed voice-over-Internet-protocol service directed toward small and midsized businesses.
Whaleback is a managed-services provider and vendor of IP private-branch-exchange solutions, while Narad provides switched broadband-access solutions.
The two companies said that by combining Narad’s high-bandwidth switched Ethernet-over-coaxial solution with Whaleback’s “CrystalBlue Voice Service,” service providers can allow businesses to take advantage of broadband VoIP while avoiding the capital investment of soft switches and increasing capacity when supplying multiline voice to a number of businesses within a hybrid fiber-coaxial node.
“MSOs are looking to attack the business-services market but struggle with the large upfront investment in infrastructure and service capabilities,” Narad CEO Michael Collette said in a prepared statement.
“By relying on an award-winning, full-featured, scalable, premises product and an experienced voice partner, this QoS-based [quality-of-service] solution will allow mid-tier and smaller operators to enter this space with minimum risk,” he added.
