What Can Brown Do for Nickelodeon?

Nickelodeon has elevated Brown Johnson to the newly created position of executive creative director of preschool television for Nickelodeon Television.

Johnson -- previously executive vice president of Nick Jr., where she was responsible for such preschool staples as Blue’s Clues and Dora the Explorer, as well as recent series including LazyTown and The Backyardigans -- will now oversee development for all preschool programming on Nick Jr. and Noggin, the latter of which has an original-series lineup currently including Oobi and Play with Me Sesame.

“Brown Johnson’s vision of preschool programming has changed the way kids watch TV,” Nickelodeon president Cyma Zarghami said in a prepared statement.

“For 10 years, she has brought her great thinking and ‘play to learn’ philosophy to Nick Jr. and made it the brand it is today -- a destination where kids actively participate and help solve Blue’s Clues, learn Spanish with Dora and jump up and down in LazyTown with Sportacus and Stephanie,” Zarghami added. “With her added responsibilities at Noggin, she will be able to expand her creative energy and deep understanding of the developmental stages of preschoolers even further.”
