Wink Communications Inc. said it cut a deal to enhance several shows for
In addition to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, which Wink has enhanced
since 1998, the interactive-TV company will provide program enhancements for
Saturday Night Live, various professional-golf events, Notre Dame
college-football games and the French Open tennis tournament.
An NBC spokeswoman said the deal isn't exclusive, noting that the company
could strike deals with other interactive-TV players such as Microsoft WebTV
Networks Inc. to enhance the same programs on other platforms.
Enhanced versions of SNL will include biographies of the weekly hosts,
CD offers from musical guests, information about upcoming hosts and guests and
Tonight Show enhancements will include guest lists, guest bios, CD offers
and information about upcoming shows.
Wink counts about 2.5 million subscribers, mostly through DirecTV Inc.
