Wisdom TV Sold

Multichannel News’ “Through the Wire” column reports that Wisdom TV, a new-age digital channel currently in an estimated 7 million homes, has new owners and managers that plan to disclose their existence Monday.

The Wire hears the new CEO -- replacing Cindy Sheets -- is former Oxygen Media sales and marketing executive C.J. Kettler, and that former Home Box Office marketing executive Lee deBoer, of investment firm Propeller Partners LLC, also is in the buying group.
Indications were that deeper pockets are involved in the group as well. Sheets didn’t return a phone call last week after declining comment earlier.

The channel, founded by the late Bill Turner and launched in 1999, is likely to be renamed but stay in human-empowerment mode.
Wisdom has carriage deals with Comcast Corp. --  to which it supplies video-on-demand fare in addition to the linear net -- EchoStar Communications Corp.’s Dish Network and the rural-cable cooperative but hasn’t broken out of a limited audience.
