'Wonder Women' Honored at Event In New York City

The 12 top female TV executives who were named 2012's class of "Wonder Women" shared advice, thanked family members and urged others to become mentors at a luncheon attended by about 875 people Tuesday.

The event was the 10th annual one hosted jointly by Multichannel News (whose editors select the Wonder Women and 12 "Women to Watch") and the New York chapter of Women in Cable Telecommunications.

Videos of the speeches will be posted on multichannel.com on Thursday, March 22, according to Louis Hillelson, vice president and group publisher. (Videos of the 2011 event can be found here.)

Expertly introducing the women at the event were ESPN SportsCenter co-host Sage Steele, ID's On The Case With Paula Zahn host Paula Zahn and MSNBC Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski.

Honored as Wonder Women, in alphabetical order, were:

Jennifer Ball, senior vice president of affiliate marketing and distribution, Univision Communications;

Sherry Brennan, SVP of distribution strategy and development, Fox Networks;

Karen Dougherty Buchholz, VP of administration, Comcast;

Marissa Freeman, SVP of brand strategy and marketing communications, Time Warner Cable;

Rebecca Glashow, SVP of digital media distribution, Discovery Communications;

Kellie Grutko, VP of marketing, Comcast Spotlight;

Rhonda Holt, SVP of audience multiplatform technologies; Turner Broadcasting System;

Lori LeBas, SVP of strategy and business operations, ESPN;

Mary Meduski, executive vice president and chief financial officer, Suddenlink Communications;

Gemma Toner, SVP of marketing and business development, Cablevision Systems;

Michelle Vicary, EVP of programming, Crown Media Family Networks;

And Dana Zimmer, EVP of TV networks distribution, NBCUniversal.

Zimmer's remarks included thanks to NBCU colleague Joseph Donnelly, the broadcasting unit chief financial officer and former longtime Comcast finance executive who died on March 9 at age 52.
