World Cup: Brazil-Chile Top Non-U.S. Round of 16 Rating

ABC's coverage of Brazil's penalty-kick advance over Chile scored as the highest-rated, non-U.S. team telacast ever in the Round of 16 on Saturday.

The worldwide leader garnered a 3.8 U.S. household rating translated into 6.14 million watchers in the early afternoon window on Saturday, according to Nielsen fast national data.

Overall, the Brazil-Chile rating ranks third among all Round of 16 World Cup matches, behind the U.S.-Brazil's 9.3 on July 4, 1994 and the 8.5 for U.S.Ghana on June 26, 2010.

With the second match on Saturday kicking off at 4 p.m., ABC netted a 3.3 rating and 5.36 million viewers for Colombia's.2-0 win over Uruguay.

Through the first 50 matches from the tourney in Brazil, ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC have a 2.3 rating and 3.65 million watchers, gains of 28%  from a 1.8 ,mark and 31% above the 2.79 million viewers for the 2010 tourney in South Africa.

To date, the highest-rated markets on the ESPN networks are Washington, D.C. (4.1), New York (3.7), San Francisco (3.5), Los Angeles (3.3) and Orlando (3.2).
