BigBand Networks announced Tuesday that cable overbuilder WideOpenWest completed deployment of its Cuda cable-modem-termination system in three states.
WOW is using BigBand's CMTS -- certified for Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification 2.0 and PacketCable -- to increase broadband-access speeds and enhance voice-over-Internet-protocol services. WOW sites in Illinois, Michigan and Ohio deployed the Cuda CMTS.
"WOW customers were eager for higher access speeds and comprehensive triple-play services that include VoIP, which we are fulfilling through this expansion of our relationship with BigBand Networks," WOW chief technical officer Michael H. Brody said in a prepared statement.
BigBand filed for an initial public offering in late December, which the company said could raise as much as $140 million.
The vendor added that it has more than 100 customers worldwide, including the top five U.S. MSOs: Cablevision Systems, Charter Communications, Comcast, Cox Communications and Time Warner Cable.
