WWE to Canadian Bars: Take Off

The Federal Court of Canada issued an injunction that will prohibit the country’s bars from illegally showing pay-per-view events offered by World Wrestling Entertainment Inc., WWE said Tuesday.

The court ordered 37 bars to cease their illegal airings of WWE PPV events and ruled that each bar must pay the wrestling organization triple monetary damages, plus courts costs of $1,500 Canadian ($1,179.53).

"WWE likes to be a good business partner, and we welcome the opportunity to work with bars or other commercial establishments in Canada to license our pay-per-views," WWE Canada president Carl DeMarco said in a release.
