WWE Has a Death Grip on YouTube

Multichannel News has partnered with social video analytics company Tubular Labs to bring you a monthly chart of the most-viewed U.S. media creators on YouTube.

At No. 1 is WWE with 956 million views of its YouTube videos. The pro wrestling empire just keeps on tightening its death grip on the top spot, once again growing its month-over-month views (from 872 million in March and 730 million in February). WWE closing in on 1 billion monthly YouTube views — demonstrating not only continuing popularity, but rising viewership — is nice validation for the Fox broadcast network, which just paid a reported $1 billion to wrest WWE’s SmackDown series from NBCUniversal’s USA Network starting in Fall 2019.

One new addition to our chart this month: Peppa Pig, the animated U.K. TV show that also airs stateside. Apparently pre-schoolers (the target demo) can’t get enough of the kindly swine on Nick Jr., and have also been turning to YouTube for their fix.
