World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. posted slight gains in its fiscal third quarter ended Jan. 28.
Net revenue rose to $82.7 million from $79.1 million in the year-earlier period; net income was $10.9 million, or $0.16 per share, versus $8.8 million ($0.13); operating income climbed to $12.4 million from $12.1 million; and earnings before interest, taxes, debt and amortization rose to $15.4 million from $15.1 million.
“We continue to see the distribution of our creative content through various emerging channels as growth opportunities," WWE CEO Linda McMahon said in a prepared statement.
“This has been demonstrated in the current quarter by the success of our home-video business, which has only begun to monetize our extensive programming library,” she added. “We will further monetize this asset through WWE 24/7, our SVOD [subscription-video-on-demand] service, which will have its official launch shortly."
