WWE Suspends 10 Wrestlers

World Wrestling Entertainment said Thursday afternoon that it had suspended 10 of its performers for violations, following information it received from investigators in the Albany County, N.Y., District Attorney’s office.

WWE has been reeling since former star Chris Benoit killed his wife and son in June, before hanging himself.  Investigators later found anabolic steroids in Benoit’s home, and an autopsy revealed steroids in his bloodstream at the time of the murders.

WWE did not say if steroids were involved in Thursday’s suspensions. But WWE, which also did not name the wrestlers that it suspended, did say that the performers were suspended for violating its wellness policy.

Steroid use is prohibited by WWE’s wellness policy.

“It has been WWE’s practice not to release the names of those who have been suspended, but notice has been sent to all WWE performers that names of anyone who is suspended under the wellness policy as of November 1 will be made public,” WWE said in a prepared statement.
