Xbox One Sales Zoom Past 1 Million Units

Microsoft announced Friday that it had sold more than 1 million Xbox One consoles within 24 hours of going on sale, surpassing one day sales for the Xbox 360 and essentially matching the early sales pace for the Sony PlayStation 4.

Microsoft launched the new $499 console in 13 markets on November 22, and said the Xbox One is now sold out at most retailers.

“We are working to replenish stock as fast as possible to meet the unprecedented demand from our customers,” Microsoft said, in statement.

The Xbox One, like the PS4, did not enter the market without hardware issues, with some Xbox One  customers complaining of grinding disc drives. Microsoft told GameSpot that the issue was effecting a “very small number of Xbox One customers” and that it is working with them to receive replacements.
