Xumo, a company that has developed a free, ad-supported OTT video aggregation service, said it has integrated Cheddar’s live feed into its native platform for smart TVs made by companies such as LG Electronics, Vizio, Panasonic and Hisense.
Xumo, which has also developed apps for mobile devices, said Cheddar is the first channel on its platform to feature live daily shows, noting that Cheddar, a financial-focused network tailored for younger audiences. Live programming from Cheddar featured on Xumo includes Opening Bell (9 a.m. ET); and Between Bells (Noon ET).
Xumo currently features more than 70 digital channels. Parnters include Cracked (acquired in April 2016 by E.W. Scripps Company), Funny Or Die, Time Inc., Condé Nast Entertainment, Bloomberg, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, BuzzFeed, PopSugar, Mitú Network, Machinima, TYT Network, Reuters, Field & Stream, PBS Digital Studios, Network A, Fandor, Outside Television Shorts, Bonnier, Saveur, and Cycle World, among others.
For Cheddar, the Xumo deal broadens its platform reach, as it’s also available on iOS and Android mobile devices, Android TV devices, Apple TV boxes, Roku players, along with distribution on OTT services and platforms such as Sling TV, Vimeo and Pluto TV.
