The regional sports network home of the New York Yankees averaged a 4.76 rating in the New York DMA with its Sept 5 coverage of the Bronx Bombers’ 9-8 loss to the Boston Red Sox in 10 innings, according to Nielsen.
On average, the telecast drew 486,000 viewers, making it the network’s highest-rated and most-watched program in 2013, surpassing the 4.34 rating on Aug. 5, which marked the first appearance of controversial slugger Alex Rodriguez in the Yankees lineup this season. YES’s May 27 coverage of Yankees-New York Mets averaged 440,000 viewers.
Thursday night’s telecast peaked with a 6.53 local DMA rating and 659,000 viewers in the 10:45 p.m. quarter hour.
