YES Delivers With Top Old Timers' Day Ratings

YES's coverage of the Yankees Old Timers; Day on Saturday was the regional sports network's
highest-rated of those events.
No doubt intrigued by salutes to the late Yankees principle owner George Steinbrenner and public address announcer Bob Sheppard, both of passed earlier in the week, the two-hour Old Timers' telecast from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on July 17 averaged a 3.28 rating in the New York DMA, translating into 318,000 viewers on average, according to Nielsen data.
That eclipsed the previous highest-rated/most-viewed Yankees Old-Timers' Day special on July 10, 2004, which generated a 2.91 rating and /315,000 viewers in the New York area.
Meanwhile, the RSN's coverage of the Yankees-Tampa Bay Rays game on July 18 scored a 6.33 rating, making it the highest rated and most-watched non-Boston Red Sox telecast in 2001. It was also YES's highest-rated day game of the current campaign.
