The upstart Yankees Entertainment and Sports Network announced its first
affiliation agreement Tuesday, signing a multiyear deal with satellite company
As reported by Multichannel News, the network will appear on DirecTV's
'Total Choice' basic service package for New York-area subscribers, while parts
of the sports service will also be carried as part of the 'DirecTV Sports Pack'
monthly programming service outside of the metro New York market, the network
YES, expected to launch March 19, will carry more than 130 New York Yankees
Major League Baseball games.
'We are thrilled with this partnership and welcome DirecTV as a distributor
of the YES Network,' YES chairman and CEO Leo J. Hindery Jr. said in a prepared
'This is a key partnership and a very important step in building our
distribution network,' he added.
