YES Hires Kustok: A Nets Reporter Grows in Brooklyn

Sarah Kustok, a fixture off and on the court in Chicagoland, has joined the YES Network as its Brooklyn Nets reporter.
Kustok will cover the team, which has relocated from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. to its new home in the Barclays Center in the New York City borough, within YES' Nets game telecasts and pre- and post-game shows, its Nets Magazine series, other team programming, and on YESNetwork.com. Kustok will also appear on YES in other capacities, both in the studio and on remote locations.

Kustok, a former star basketball player at DePaul University, most recently worked at Comcast SportsNet Chicago, where she was the regional sports network's Bulls, Cubs, White Sox and Blackhawks reporter. She also had been anchoring sportscasts on WMAQ-TV (NBC) in Chicago. She joined Comcast SportsNet Chicago in 2009 as a feature reporter and occasional anchor on the network's SportsNet Central show.

Prior to that, the Orland Park, Ill. native worked at ESPN as an analyst and sideline reporter on its men's and women's college basketball telecasts, and as sideline reporter for its college and high school football telecasts. Kustok also appeared on Versus (now NBC Sports Network), and provided periodic reporting and anchoring work on the Fox affiliate in Chicago.
Kustok captained the DePaul women's basketball team her senior year. During her four-year playing career, the Blue Demons reached the NCAA tournament twice and the NIT twice.
"Sarah has proven herself to be extremely versatile throughout her career and has excelled at a wide variety of assignments," said John Filippelli, president of production and programming at YES, in announcing the hire. "Sarah has talent, personality, a love of sports and a quick wit. We have given our viewers yet another reason to tune in to watch the new-look Brooklyn Nets on YES."
