The RSN's previous 2011 season high was its coverage of the July 9 Rays-Yankees game during which Derek Jeter became the first Yankee and 28th player to join Major League Baseball's 3,000 hit club.
The Yankees' 2010 season-opener against Boston averaged a 10.01 rating and 750,000 households in the New York DMA, according to YES officials.
Friday night's telecast peaked with a 9.34 TV household rating, 702,000 households and 979,000 total viewers during the 10:30 p.m.quarter-hour.
