Fox Soccer Channel and the United States Youth Soccer Association entered into a three-year partnership that will yield a number of programming, marketing and community initiatives.
As the official TV partner of US Youth Soccer -- which counts 3 million players between the ages of 5-19, plus 1 million volunteers, administrators and coaches -- Fox Soccer Channel will kick off The US Youth Soccer Show, a monthly half-hour magazine show dedicated to the nation’s young players.
In August, Fox Soccer will devote two hours of coverage to the 2006 US Youth Soccer National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
Additionally, the network will soon launch a series of co-branded, minute-long interstitials with coaching and parenting tips, as well as US Youth Soccer public-service announcements specially created for Youth Soccer month each September.
Via the partnership, Fox Soccer will also gain access and promotion tied to a number of US Youth Soccer events nationwide.
“We want the network to be the reference point for all levels of soccer in this country. If we just catered to expats and hard-core fans, we would limit our growth opportunities,” Fox Soccer executive vice president and general manager David Sternberg said. “With this partnership with US Youth Soccer, we will make more inroads at the grassroots level and tap into the broader soccer culture.”
