YouTube Greenlights Second Season of ‘Cobra Kai’

YouTube has renewed its original series Cobra Kai for a second season, the network said Thursday.

The series, which launched on YouTube Red in May, will return for its second season in 2019, according to the company. Cobra Kai stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka will return for the series’ second season, according to the service.

Other cast members returning for the show's sophomore campaign include Xolo Mariduena, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser and Courtney Henggeler.

“This series had all of the right elements from the very beginning -- compelling characters, a storied rivalry, and the talented original stars,” said Susanne Daniels, global head of original content, YouTube in a statement. “The way viewers have embraced the new twist on this beloved franchise has been nothing short of amazing, and we’re thrilled to partner with Sony TV, Overbrook and the extraordinary creative team led by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg to create a second season.”

Cobra Kai is written and executive produced by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg.
