NEW YORK, NY – MTV is setting the bar for new multi-platform experiences socially, digitally and across mobile devices during the “2015 MTV Movie Awards” pre-show and main show, airing live on Sunday, April 12, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT. MTV will be the first television network to utilize Twitter’s groundbreaking Periscope app and Orad Hi-Tec Systems’ Augmented Reality for live red carpet coverage.  Additionally, the All-Access Livestream unleashed by T-Mobile® will introduce new features and an exclusive camera angle giving fans the opportunity to unleash a new way to view the live action from home.  MTV, the brand that boasts more than 218 million social fans, will also leverage different digital activations and social talent across Facebook, Instagram, Vine, Tumblr and Twitter. Hosted by Amy Schumer, the “2015 MTV Movie Awards” will air live from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

“At MTV, we’ve long been the innovator when it comes to integrating the latest social and digital trends around our tentpole events such as the ‘Movie Awards’ and ‘Video Music Awards’,” said Colin Helms, Senior Vice President, MTV Connected Content Group. “By leveraging new platforms like Periscope and working with our partners to create fun, integrated experiences with existing initiatives like All Access Live, we’re continuing to evolve the award show experience and empowering the audience to get involved in the show like never before.”

Twitter’s Periscope Comes to the Red Carpet

For the first time in history, MTV will bring Twitter’s Periscope app to an award show red carpet to give fans the real-time scoop on trending fashion and beauty details at the MTV Movie Awards.

To bring the fashion experience ever further, this year’s “MTV Movie Awards” Red Carpet Report will be livestreamed for the first time ever. Hosted by Nicole Byer of MTV’s “Girl Code” and fashion designer Rachel Antonoff, fans can tune in at to see one-of-a-kind live interviews with the celebrities who will make the red carpet sizzle.

Bringing Augmented Reality to the Red Carpet

MTV will partner with Orad Hi-Tec Systems to bring real-time 3D broadcast graphics to a live red carpet for the first time ever.  Through the use of video insertions, the technology will allow producers to overlay 3D graphics onto the live video feed.  The end result will generate eye-popping visual illusions of different elements from the red carpet such as video that can also be projected onto physical places such as the side of a building.

First-Ever Exclusive All-Access Livestream Locked Camera

Each year, the MTV All-Access Livestream unleashed by T-Mobile® provides unedited access to behind-the-scenes of the “MTV Movie Awards.” With over 20 cameras located backstage and throughout the audience, fans can play director and dictate their viewing experience with the click of a button from their tablets, phones or computers.

New this year, MTV and T-Mobile® have added a locked camera that will be focused on the celebrity audience inside the venue.  Known as the “Unleash Cam,” it will only be activated once a designated threshold has been reached via fans tweeting #FrontRowUnleashed.  Additionally, MTV has tapped social media stars to serve as the All-Access ringleader, encouraging fans to “ditch and switch” throughout the program to fully customize their night.

Continued Relationship with Social Influencers

MTV will also build upon its long relationship with social stars including Jerome Jarre, Lily Singh (Superwoman) and Elisabeth Jakovenko to bring the highest level of social engagement and involvement to drive awareness pre, during, and post MTV Movie Awards.
