Exton, PA—The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) along with its global arm, the International Society of Broadband Experts™ (ISBE), today announced that it will intensify the training role of SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo® with the addition of three add-on Boot Camps to support DOCSIS® 3.1, Fiber To The x (FTTx) and Wireless deployments.

The DOCSIS 3.1, FTTx and Wireless Boot Camps will be conducted simultaneously on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 25-26, in conjunction with SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo in Philadelphia. Each of the two-day Boot Camps will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days and will provide attendees with in-depth knowledge of technology needed to accelerate operators’ launches of new services.

“The addition of our Boot Camps will significantly increase the educational value of SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo, particularly around the new technologies that will fuel future growth for the industry,” said Mark Dzuban, president and CEO of SCTE/ISBE.  “By scheduling these Boot Camps in conjunction with Expo, we’re delivering high-value training that can help to drive industry growth, while limiting the time and travel impact on individuals and their employers.”

Leveraging SCTE/ISBE’s advanced training methodologies and contributions from cable operator and technology partners, the three Boot Camps will address such topics as:

•    DOCSIS 3.1—A primer on DOCSIS 3.1 and fundamentals of D3.1 downstream operation; an overview of the technical elements of DOCSIS architectures; and deployment, monitoring and troubleshooting of DOCSIS 3.1 services.

•    FTTx—PON architectures used by FTTx networks and comparisons with existing networks such as HFC; the advantages and disadvantages of each design; and best practices for deploying and supporting FTTx.

•    Wireless—Wi-Fi standards and wireless home network devices; overviews of fundamental concepts, including security, RF basics, antenna theory, wireless troubleshooting, routing and switching and home environmental monitoring; and planning and implementation of Wi-Fi deployments.

Discounted pricing for each of the three Boot Camps is available with purchase of a Full Conference Pass to SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo.
