MONTERREY, Mexico-- Television Internacional selected the globally deployed APEX3000 Universal Edge QAM platform from ARRIS International plc (NASDAQ: ARRS) to expand its HD channel broadcasting.
TVI also chose ARRIS Global Services to converge its current QAM services into EQAM utilizing the APEX3000. The project included the distributed installment of 16 APEX3000s in 16 Hubs, replacing the centralized APEX1000s in Monterrey's headend.
This deployment marks the first APEX3000 installation in Mexico. TVI will benefit immediately from savings in power and cooling costs, while the APEX3000's high-density, converged video and data platform will provide TVI with the network scalability and CCAP compatibility to deliver tomorrow's IP-based services. In addition, the APEX3000's proven capabilities for Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB), strategically position TVI to reliably deliver a range of digital TV content.
"We partnered with ARRIS to bring the future of TV to our customers," said Jorge Diaz, CTO at TVI. "The ARRIS APEX3000 enables us to streamline our broadcast delivery today and expand our HD channel offerings tomorrow. The ARRIS Global Services team provided the expertise and support to switch platforms quickly and reliably."
"The APEX3000 represents a big step forward for TVI in delivering tomorrow's video services and introduces our state-of-the-art QAM platform to Latin America," said German Iaryczower, SVP of Sales, Caribbean and Latin America at ARRIS. "The APEX3000 platform is proven for large-scale global deployments, and our work with TVI introduces its next-generation capabilities to the region."
The APEX3000 is an ultra-dense, fully redundant, state-of-the-art chassis-based edge QAM platform. Its ability to save power and provide excellent RF performance for QAM delivery is ideal for linear broadcast applications as well as narrowcast applications such as VOD, Cloud DVR, SDV and M-CMTS.
The APEX3000 features key capabilities for DVB delivery‚ including integrated DVB Simulcrypt and MediaCipher Encryption, fully-agile RF QAM placement design (57-999 MHz), and a standby QAM Blade for MediaCipher and DVB Broadcast QAM backups. Its scalable platform gives operators options for converging QAM services on a single EQAM platform today, while providing a migration path to support the network's future needs.
